App Use Continues Steady Growth

Cell phone application downloading and use are on the rise, with half of all adult cell owners now equipped with apps on their phones, according to [download page] a November 2011 report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Data from the report indicates this to be a 16% increase from the 43% of US adult cell phone owners who had an app on their phone in May 2010. In addition, in August 2011, of the 84% of US adults who reported having a cell phone, 38% said they had downloaded an app to their phone, a 31% increase from 29% of cell phone owners in May 2010, and a 73% hike from the 22% who reported having done so in September 2009.
